Rupee rises for 5th day, Importers demand hurts :

The rupee rose for the fifth consecutive session on Wednesday and touched its highest in more than two months,The rupee ended at 50.3750/3850 to the dollar, after rising to 50.38 -- its highest since November 14. It rose 0.7 percent from its Tuesday's close of 50.73/74.

Gold climbed to its highest in five weeks on Tuesday as German economic data boosted the euro after several sessions of losses and as stocks and commodities were lifted by Chinese trade data, which benefited assets seen as higher risk.
Gold may set a record high above $2,000 an ounce in late 2012 or early 2013, but the metal is nearing the end of a decade-long run that has lifted prices by more than 600 percent.

Rupee Falls on Strong Shares :

The rupee rose for the first time in three sessions on Tuesday, aided by an upswing in domestic stock prices and an increased appetite for risk, although it finished off the day's high as oil importers stepped up buying of dollars.
The rupee closed at 53.21/22 to the dollar, 0.2 percent up from Monday's close, after touching a high of 53.11.
Oil is India's biggest import item and oil refiners are the largest buyers of dollars in the local market.

Gold of 99.9 and 99.5 per cent purity remained steady in the national capital at Rs 27,640 and Rs 27,500 per 10 grams, respectively.

On the other hand, silver ready added Rs 250 to Rs 51,400 per kg and weekly-based delivery gained Rs 150 to Rs 51,300 per kg.
